Man charged after three NSW Police officers assaulted

A man will face court today after three NSW Police officers were allegedly assaulted at St Mary’s last night.

In a statement, NSW Police said that at around 9pm yesterday, officers were called to a business in Chapel Street, St Marys, following reports a man had allegedly damaged property.

Police say the man left the scene prior to the arrival of officers.

“A short time later, he was located on Queens Street, St Marys. While officers were attempting to speak to the man, he allegedly became aggressive,” NSW Police said.

During the arrest, three officers were allegedly assaulted, including a 26-year-old male Constable, a 31-year-old male Constable and a 28-year-old female Senior Constable.

The 26-year-old male officer was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for face and arm injuries before being taken to Nepean Hospital in a stable condition.

A 36-year-old man was arrested and taken to St Mary’s Police Station where he was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, two counts of assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, hinder/resist law enforcement officer in execution of duty, larceny and destroy or damage property.

He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today.
