NSW Centre for Property Acquisition transfers to Department of Planning

The NSW Government’s Centre for Property Acquisition (CPA) has transferred to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI), creating a single, central point for oversight of the NSW property acquisition framework.

Bringing the CPA from Transport for NSW (TfNSW) into DPHI establishes a direct connection between key reform and oversight activities and the CPA’s operational role, the Government said in a statement.

The transfer strengthens alignment between the Government’s policy, legislative, and operational functions related to property acquisition, supporting the delivery of a fair and transparent acquisition system, said Department Secretary, Kiersten Fishburn.

Secretary, Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Kiersten Fishburn.

“Bringing the Centre for Property Acquisition into the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure will improve coordination across the Government’s policy, legislative and operational roles in property acquisition,” Ms Fishburn said.

“Co-locating these functions will make what can often be a complex and stressful experience simpler and more manageable, while providing landowners and acquiring authorities with greater clarity and confidence.”

Under the new arrangements, the CPA will continue its key role of supporting authorities to carry out property acquisitions consistently, fairly and transparently across the state, while providing support to landowners.
