The WA Government’s $192 million Geraldton Health Campus Redevelopment is now complete, delivering a modernised, fit-for-purpose facility for the Geraldton and Mid West community.
Following the refurbishments, Geraldton Health Campus now includes:
- an expanded Emergency Department with increased services and capacity to support faster, more effective treatment;
- an integrated mental health service including a Mental Health Observation Area, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit, alongside the new Midwest Mental Health and Community Alcohol and Drug Service facility – bringing together assessment, treatment and support services to strengthen mental health care across the region;
- enhanced safety features, including interview rooms, isolation facilities and behavioural observation beds; and
- modern infrastructure and engineering upgrades to improve reliability, efficiency and sustainability across the campus.
The first services, including the Emergency Department and Community Mental Health, are set to welcome patients from August, marking a significant step forward in local healthcare delivery. Additional services will progressively move into the facility from September.
“This is a significant milestone for Geraldton and the Mid West, delivering a modern, first-class health facility that will serve the community for decades to come,” said Premier, Roger Cook.
“This redevelopment strengthens critical services, supports our growing regional communities, and reflects our record investment in health infrastructure across the State.”
Works are continuing on a new standalone radiation oncology unit. This will deliver the first cancer treatment service of its kind in the Mid West, enabling patients to access lifesaving care closer to home.
The unit is jointly funded by the WA Government ($25.8 million) and Commonwealth Government ($12.6 million), with completion expected next year.
