NSW Corrective Services Investigation Unit detectives have charged a correctional officer following an investigation into the alleged unauthorised access of restricted data at a correctional facility in Sydney’s west.
This month, detectives from NSW Police State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad Corrective Services Investigation Unit commenced inquiries into a female correctional officer who allegedly accessed restricted inmate information between September 2023 and June this year.
“Following inquiries, about 9.10am yesterday, detectives arrested a 36-year-old woman at a home in Schofields,” NSW Police said in a statement.
She was taken to Riverstone Police Station, where she was charged with 85 counts of access/modify restricted data held in computer.
The 36-year-old woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Monday 19 October.
