Queensland Police have charged a fifth boy following investigations into a number of property crime offences in Mount Isa this month.
The 12-year-old Winston boy has been charged with seven offences including five counts of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, four counts of wilful damage, two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicles aircraft or vessels – use publish on social media – advertise involvement / act / omission in the night in company and breach of bail condition, and one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, dangerous operation of a vehicle and obstruct a police officer.
The charges follow four other teenage boys, aged between 14 and 16, being charged with 51 offences.
It will be alleged that on 22 April, three boys aged 14, 15 and 16 entered a May Downs Road business where they stole a white Toyota Landcruiser from the premises. The vehicle was located damaged shortly after 12pm the same day.
A 16-year-old Winston boy, and two Pioneer boys aged 15 and 14, have each been charged with four counts each of enter and commit and enter with intent, three counts of wilful damage, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle.
The 16-year-old Winston boy was further charged with one count of possession of a weapon, remanded in custody and due to reappear before Mount Isa Children’s Court on 1 May.
The 14-year-old Pioneer boy has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear before Mount Isa Children’s Court on 27 May.
It will be further alleged that on 19 April, a 16-year-old Winston boy entered a Labuan Street property in Soldiers Hill, stealing a silver Toyota Landcruiser from the residence. The vehicle was located damaged on Maxime Street the next day.
The 16-year-old boy has been charged with two counts each of fraud and serious assault of a police officer, and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, obstruction, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and attempted enter premises. He has been remanded in custody and due to reappear before Townsville Childrens Court on 6 May.
The 12-year-old boy was denied bail and was due to appear in Mount Isa Children’s Court today.
