South-east Perth’s new Byford Bike Pump Track and upgraded Byford Skate Park are now complete and ready for the community, thanks to $2.14 million in funding from the WA Government.
The new Byford Bike Pump Track at Briggs Park was delivered through a $1.34 million investment, featuring a purpose-built pump track for intermediate and advanced riders, as well as jump lines, shade shelters and seating.
An additional $800,000 supported Stage 2 upgrades to the Byford Skate Park, delivering an expanded skating area, new elements, and improved lighting and seating to create a more vibrant and welcoming space.
“My government is committed to ensuring Western Australians live active, healthy lifestyles, and central to that is delivering quality recreational infrastructure all over our State,” said Premier, Roger Cook.
“Through projects such as the new Byford Bike Pump Track and upgraded Byford Skate Park, not only are we encouraging active lifestyles, but a broader sense of local community in the area.”
Sport and Recreation Minister, Rita Saffioti said it was important the Government continued to invest in infrastructure that keeps pace with Byford’s growth.
“Through our PlayOn WA initiative, our government is delivering modern, high-quality facilities that give people more opportunities to get active and spend time outdoors,” she said.
“With a new bike track and expanded skate park, these upgrades create spaces that young people can enjoy, build skills and stay connected for years to come.”
