Woman charged over alleged assault of paramedic and police officer

A 23-year-old woman has been charged after she allegedly assaulted a paramedic and a police officer in Sydney yesterday.

In a statement, NSW Police said that at around 4:15pm on Thursday, NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to Hyde Park, Sydney, following reports of a concern for welfare.

“On arrival, ambulance officers located a 23-year-old woman requiring treatment, however she attempted to leave the scene but was detained with the assistance of officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command,” Police said.

“While the woman was in the ambulance, she allegedly punched a 46-year-old paramedic in the groin and allegedly scratched a female police officer on the hand.”

The woman was later released from hospital and into police custody. She was taken to Day Street Police Station where she was charged with assault of front-line health worker and assault police.

She was refused bail to appear in Bail Division Court 7 today.
