Victorian Police recognised for NSW flood rescue efforts

Members of the Victoria Police Water and Search and Rescue squads have been recognised for their efforts during the 2022 Lismore floods at a recent award ceremony in the northern NSW town.

The units were awarded with a citation by NSW Police Force Commissioner Karen Webb APM, acknowledging the professionalism, dedication, flexibility, and significant efforts of all those deployed.

In February last year, following more than 1000mm of rain in just 36 hours, Victoria Police members were deployed as part of a multi-agency response in northern NSW, before supporting evacuation efforts west of Sydney, Bega, and East Gippsland as the storm cell moved into Victoria.

Victoria Police’s Search and Rescue Squad provides specialist search and rescue expertise, advice and practical assistance in marine and land searches and rescues.
