Tender awarded for Maningrida police station

The Northern Territory Government has awarded the tender to build a modern, fit-for-purpose Police Complex in Maningrida.

Chief Minister and Minister for Police, Lia Finocchiaro said the investment was part of the Government’s broader commitment to deliver the infrastructure and resources needed to keep Territorians safe, regardless of where they live.

“In our year of action, certainty and security this is a significant project for Maningrida and the safety of the region,” Mrs Finocchiaro said.

“We have the best police in the country, and my government backs them.

“Investing in remote police stations ensures officers are supported and equipped to serve.

“This new complex will expand local policing capacity from 10 to 14 officers, enabling police to respond more effectively to community needs, strengthen crime prevention and community engagement,” she said.

Maningrida, one of the Northern Territory’s largest Aboriginal communities, is home to around 2,500 residents, and strong growth expected in the coming years.

The new site has been chosen for its accessibility, operational capability, and room for future expansion.

The new Maningrida Police Complex (artist’s impression pictured) will include:

  • Station facilities for up to 14 officers;
  • A multi-purpose area and courthouse;
  • Five holding cells;
  • Eight-member visiting officer quarters;
  • A secure vehicle compound;
  • Boat shed and fuel storage;
  • Dog kennels;
  • Housing options for officers.

The Maningrida Police Complex is being jointly funded by the Australian and Northern Territory governments and will be delivered by the NT Government.
