Tasmanian Metro launches female driver recruitment campaign

The Tasmanian Government has thrown its support behind Metro’s latest recruitment campaign, which is aiming to attract more women to its ranks.

Women currently make up around 9% of Metro’s bus driver workforce.

Minister for Transport, Kerry Vincent, said driver recruitment was a high priority.

“Tasmanians have told us with their feet that they love free public transport,” Minister Vincent said.

“Driving this recruitment campaign to increase female driver participation is a great initiative from Metro.

“Metro has listened to the women already behind the wheel, using their experiences to shape the campaign and support new recruits.

“We’re a big supporter of increasing female participation in the workforce as a whole, and I commend Metro for their efforts,” Minister Vincent said.

“This will ensure more reliable service delivery as Tasmanians take full advantage of free public transport,” he said.
