Tasmanian infrastructure pipeline passes $45 billion mark

Building and construction in Tasmania is on the up, with the latest infrastructure pipeline now boasting $45.6 billion of public and private projects, according to new figures released this week.

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Kerry Vincent, said the latest 10-Year Infrastructure Pipeline update shows the Government has the right plan to deliver the infrastructure Tasmania needs.

“This is the strongest investment pipeline Tasmania has ever seen and demonstrates confidence in our State’s future,” Minister Vincent said.

“These infrastructure projects span every region of the State and a diverse range of industries, from advanced manufacturing and critical minerals through to tourism and digital infrastructure.”

The pipeline includes $17.5 billion of projects in the North-West, $13.3 billion in the North and $12.5 billion in the South, with $2.4 billion for statewide projects.

“This pipeline also includes the delivery and upgrade of critical community infrastructure, including roads, schools, hospitals, bridges, irrigation, water and sewerage,” said Minister Vincent.

“The energy infrastructure sector is one of the largest contributors to the pipeline, with more than $23.7 billion worth of investment across 82 projects.

“Our Government is getting on with the job and delivering for Tasmanians, working with businesses large and small to attract investment, reduce barriers and create opportunities for all Tasmanians.”
