Tasmanian Dept of Health to publish ambulance response times daily

The Tasmanian Department of Health has announced it will commence daily publication of information regarding ambulance response times, all outpatients’ statistics, and elective surgery wait list reporting, in line with the State Government’s commitment to openness and transparency.

The new measures will join existing daily reporting outlining the percentage of ambulance incidents transferred to hospital staff within 60 minutes of arrival across all major hospitals, along with a range of Emergency Department (ED) measures, including the number of ED presentations, waiting times to be seen, and length of stay in ED.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer said the move will allow a near real-time view of health system performance.

“We are committed to increasing transparency in our health system, and this is an important step that gives Tasmanians even greater access to information about how our health system is performing each day,” the Minister said.

“It will also complement other routine reporting, such as reports from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare and the annual Report on Government Services.”

The Daily Health System Dashboard is published on the Department of Health website: www.health.tas.gov.au/patients/health-system-dashboard.
