A serving NSW Police officer has been charged over an alleged domestic violence assault in Sydney’s east yesterday.
In a statement, NSW Police said that at around 7pm on Sunday, officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended a home in Maroubra following reports of an alleged domestic assault.
“On arrival, police were told a 61-year-old man had allegedly assaulted a woman known to him following an argument,” NSWP said.
“The woman was assessed at the scene; however, did not require medical treatment.”
Following inquiries, the 61-year-old senior constable – attached to a Central Metropolitan Region command – was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with common assault (DV).
The officer was granted conditional bail to appear before Waverley Local Court on Thursday 18 June. NSW Police says his employment status is under review.
