Officer suspended over alleged assault

QUEENSLAND POLICE

A 39-year-old male police officer has been suspended from the Queensland Police Service over an alleged assault while off-duty.

The Senior Constable has been issued a Notice To Appear for one count each of Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm, Deprivation of Liberty, the Queensland Police Service said in a statement.

He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on 16 May.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the Service faces serious allegations of misconduct,” the QPS said.

“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated.”
