An off-duty NSW Police officer will face court next month after being charged with high range drink driving following a crash in the state’s west yesterday.
In a statement, NSW Police said that at around 7.20pm on Thursday, a Hyundai i30 and a Toyota Hilux collided at the intersection of Sheraton Road and Castlereagh Avenue in Dubbo.
“The Hyundai continued driving along Sheraton Road and was allegedly seen to strike several traffic obstacles, causing further damage to the vehicle,” Police said.
“Police were notified and officers from Orana Mid Western Police District located the Hyundai stopped on Moonah Street.
“Officers spoke to the driver – a 31-year-old man – who was subjected to a roadside breath test, returning a positive result.”
The man – a senior constable attached to a specialist command – was taken to Dubbo Police Station where a secondary breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.232.
He was charged with drive with high range PCA and was issued a court attendance notice to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday 29 April.
His driver’s licence was suspended, and his employment status is under review, Police said.
