The Children’s Commissioner of the Northern Territory, Colleen Gwynne, has officially resigned from office, saying she wishes to explore other opportunities.
Ms Gwynne has served the Northern Territory public sector since 1988, including 25 years of service with the Northern Territory Police.
Ms Gwynne was first appointed as Children’s Commissioner in June 2015 for a term of five years, and was reappointed in 2020 for a further term of five years.
“We acknowledge her contributions to protect the most vulnerable members of our community, children,” Acting Attorney General, Nicole Manison said in a statement.
“The Northern Territory Government wishes her and her family all the best.”
In 2020, Ms Gwynne was charged with abuse of office but was later acquitted after a lengthy investigation.
It’s understood Ms Gwynne has reached a confidential settlement with the NT Government.
