Two NSW Police officers fined for drink-driving

An off-duty NSW Police officer has been fined after allegedly being caught drink-driving in the Blue Mountains area on Sunday.

The 55-year-old man was stopped for random testing on the Great Western Highway, Katoomba, about 9am, when he allegedly returned a positive result, NSW Police said in a statement.

He was arrested and taken to Katoomba Police Station, where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.051.

The Inspector – who is attached to the Western Region – was issued a Traffic Infringement Notices for drive with low range PCA and licence expired within last two years, which carry a total $1,444 fine.

In a separate incident, a serving police officer was infringed for Low Range PCA on the state’s Central Coast.

At around 10pm on Sunday, officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command allegedly stopped the off duty officer’s vehicle on the Pacific Highway, Wadalba, for the purpose of a breath test.

“It will be alleged the male driver – a constable attached to the Northern Region – returned a positive reading,” NSW Police said.

The man was placed under arrest and taken to Wyong Police Station where a breath analysis allegedly returned a reading of 0.059.

He was issued an infringement notice for drive with low range PCA and his licence was suspended for three months.

NSW Police said the officer’s employment status is under review.
