New WA Health Excellence Award category for 2026

Nominations are now open for the WA Health Excellence Awards to recognise the people, teams, and initiatives delivering exceptional care across Western Australia’s public health system.

The annual awards celebrate innovation, leadership, and excellence in healthcare, and acknowledge the commitment of WA Health staff who work every day to improve health outcomes for Western Australians.

Nominations are invited from WA Health staff across 10 award categories, while members of the public can recognise a frontline healthcare worker in the 7News Health Heroes category.

Health Minister, Meredith Hammat (pictured) said a new Excellence in Caring for Older People award category reflects the growing importance of aged care within the health system and recognises initiatives and individuals delivering high-quality, compassionate care to older Western Australians.

“The WA Health Excellence Awards are an important opportunity to acknowledge the dedication, skill, and compassion of our WA Health workers,” said Minister Hammat.

“The addition of a category focused on caring for older people highlights the vital role our health professionals play in supporting Western Australians at every stage of life.

“These awards recognise not only clinical excellence, but also the innovation, leadership, and teamwork that underpin a strong and sustainable health system.

“I encourage staff and community members alike to put forward nominations and help us celebrate the individuals and teams making a real difference across WA.”

The Minister for Health’s Award will once again honour an individual WA Health staff member who has made a sustained and meaningful contribution to improving healthcare in the State.

Nominations are open until 26 June, with further information available via the WA Health Excellence Awards website.
