The Queensland Government has announced the appointment of Heidi Cooper and David Curd as Directors of the Community Services Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Authority QLeave Board.
Ms Cooper, who is Chief Executive Officer of Business Chamber Queensland, and Mr Curd, who is Chief Executive Officer of MS Queensland, will join the eight-person Board until the term of the current Board ends on 2 September 2026.
The Community Services Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 2020 (Qld) establishes a scheme for the portability of long service leave for workers in the community services industry.
Deputy Premier, Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning and Minister for Industrial Relations, Jarrod Bleijie said Ms Cooper and Mr Curd’s appointments would bring a fresh start to the board by ensuring they were equipped with the best representation.
“Both Ms Cooper and Mr Curd have extensive experience in employer representation and advocacy in the community services sector,” Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
“Their skills and insight will strengthen the oversight of this important industry scheme and help deliver the renewed direction our government is focused on.
“They will bring valuable skills and experience to the Board which oversees this important scheme for the industry.’’
Ms Cooper is a qualified solicitor, experienced Board Director and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and has significant expertise in governance, risk and corporate leadership and experience representing the interests of employers and business. She holds multiple qualifications in law, public policy and management and was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland.
Mr Curd is the Chief Executive Officer of Multiple Sclerosis Queensland and has held several leadership roles as a Founder, Managing Director, CEO and Executive General Manager, in both Government and the social services sector, including Endeavour Foundation, Community Solutions Group and CoAct Ltd. He Curd has several formal qualifications, including a Master of Business Administration.
