The Western Australian Government has appointed five new commissioners to the Tourism WA Board.
The State tourism organisation welcomed new commissioners Rosanna Angus, Kristy Bailey, Andrew Lane, Caroline Taylor and Jason Waters to the Board this month.
Tourism Minister, Rita Saffioti (pictured) said each commissioner brings decades of experience to the role and with extensive career histories across the tourism, aviation, hospitality, and travel and transport industries, both globally and in WA.
“The WA Government is pleased to welcome five new, highly experienced Board Commissioners to the Tourism WA Board, bringing a wide range of industry expertise and local knowledge to the role,” said Ms Saffioti.
“WA’s tourism sector has gone from strength to strength in recent years as evidenced by the record $17.7 billion in visitor spend achieved in 2023, and I have no doubt these new Commissioners will assist in driving even more success.”
Ms Angus is the owner of Oolin Sunday Island Cultural Tours and was recently named ‘Australia’s Top Tourist Guide’ for her work in Broome.
Ms Bailey and Mr Lane both have extensive experience working in the tourism and transport sectors through their roles at Swan River Seaplanes and SeaLink, while Caroline Taylor brings a thorough understanding of WA’s food and wine industry from her work as a chef, business owner and hospitality consultant.
Mr Waters is the Chief Executive Officer of Perth Airport and provides a global aviation and investment perspective to the role.
Along with the new appointments, Board deputy chair Manny Papadoulis, commissioner Iain Grandage and commissioner Janelle Marr have all had their terms extended.
The Board of Commissioners is the governing body and accountable authority for Tourism WA and guides the strategy, objectives and performance targets for the agency.
Under the Western Australian Tourism Commission Act 1983 (WATC Act), up to a total of 10 board commissioners can be appointed to the Tourism WA Board.
