Bushfire resilience and road safety are at the forefront of a new South Australian Government grant to upgrade a 52km section of Hog Bay Road, a major arterial route of Kangaroo Island.
The upgrades, to be completed by 2024, will include shoulder sealing, road widening, pavement works and installation of Audio Tactile Line Marking.
The funding is part of the $40 million Kangaroo Island Road Safety and Bushfire Resilience Package which also includes upgrades to other major roads on the island including Playford Highway.
The Package is jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments on an 80:20 basis and is expected to support approximately 80 jobs per year over the life of the construction period.
