Jasmina Joldić PSM has been announced as the new permanent head of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General.
Ms Joldić’s career has included senior roles in several Queensland portfolios, the Australian Government, the higher education and the not-for-profit sectors.
She has been acting Director-General of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General since May 2023.
“I congratulate Ms Joldić on her well-deserved appointment as Director-General,” said Queensland Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, Yvette D’Ath.
“Ms Joldić’s strengths are clear, and she is experienced in developing and delivering complex government policy in a stakeholder rich environment.
“She is well known for her strong background in public policy development and strategy, and leading significant change and reform.
“I look forward to working with Ms Joldić to ensure we have a fair, safe and inclusive justice system for all Queenslanders.
In a statement, Ms Joldić said it was the greatest honour of her career to be appointed to lead the Department of Justice and Attorney-General.
“As a first-generation migrant, my career in public service has been my way of giving back to the community and the country that welcomed me and gave me and my family a new home,” she said.
“I look forward to continuing to serve the great Queensland community in this role, and I am excited about harnessing the incredible talents of the department’s workforce to deliver for Queenslanders.
Ms Joldić PSM has been acting as the Director-General of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General since May 2023.
She has previously served as Associate Director-General with Queensland Health, Assistant Director-General with the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, and in roles with the University of Queensland, The University of Melbourne, and Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Ms Joldić was awarded an Australia Day Public Service Medal in 2022 for her public service, particularly for her leadership at Queensland Health during Queensland’s COVID-19 pandemic response. She received the Griffith University and Griffith Business School Alumnus of the Year award in 2023.
She holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Queensland and Graduate Certificate in Policy Analysis and Master of Public Administration from Griffith University.
