Victoria Police detectives have charged a man and seized weapons, illicit drugs and cash as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged drug trafficking on construction sites in Melbourne.
A warrant was executed early Thursday morning at a Taylors Hill address. A 46-year-old Taylors Hill man (pictured), who is a CFMEU delegate, was arrested.
He was interviewed by investigators and has since been charged with traffick drug of dependence, possess prohibited weapons, possess drug of dependence – prescription drug, possess Schedule 4 Poison and deal property suspected to be proceeds of crime. The man was bailed to appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on 4 February next year.
Police will allege the man was involved in supplying weapons to other CFMEU members, including allegedly trying to exchange weapons for drugs at CFMEU headquarters.
Officers seized three prohibited weapons (OC spray), anabolic steroids, peptides, prescription drugs and Schedule 4 poisons and approximately $10,000 cash during the search warrant.
Operation Hawk was established in July 2024 to specifically target criminal behaviour linked to the construction industry and transitioned to Taskforce Hawk in June 2025.
Victoria Police says the task force is focused on assessing new intelligence and evidence relating to allegations of criminal behaviour linked to the construction industry.
It also continues to proactively target organised crime associated with the sector, including a focus on any individuals employed within the construction industry who have known links to outlaw motorcycle gangs.
Police are also instigating approaches with relevant industry stakeholders to gather intelligence, as well as working closely with a range of law enforcement partners, regulators and government authorities.
