Wanneroo nets sports precinct upgrades

Upgrades to the City of Wanneroo’s Ridgewood Park have been completed, ensuring the well-used community sporting precinct is fit for purpose.

Supported by a $120,000 WA Government contribution, the project has delivered several improvements including the installation of an electronic scoreboard, upgrades to the kitchen and kiosk, and new cricket training nets.

“The WA Government is proud to deliver on its commitment to support local sports infrastructure, making it easier for clubs and communities to thrive,” said Sport and Recreation Minister, Rita Saffioti.

“These upgrades ensure Ridgewood Park continues to be a high-quality and welcoming venue for both competition and community use, and the local clubs can continue to grow participation.

“Whether it’s scoring a match, training in new nets or enjoying the upgraded kiosk, this investment is about supporting grassroots sport from the ground up.”

The scoreboard and kiosk works were completed in 2023, with the final element – the installation of the cricket nets – now completed.

The WA Government recently announced its PlayOn WA initiative, a bold new program to guide investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure across the State through to 2030.

The program aims to deliver 2030 community sport and recreation infrastructure items across WA by the year 2030, helping to deliver a lasting and positive impact across WA communities.
