The WA Mental Health Conference 2026 will wrap up in Perth today with the theme Towards wellbeing: Taking control in the face of change.
The theme invited participants to explore opportunities across their lifespan to take back control, support themselves and others, recover from challenges and chart a course for the future.
The conference was opened by the Mental Health and Preventative Health Minister, Meredith Hammat and features a distinguished lineup of keynote speakers including Beyond Blue CEO Georgie Harman.
“The WA Mental Health Conference presents us all with an opportunity to be inspired and energised with new ideas about how we can create better mental health practices, policies and systems for ourselves as well as our community,” said Minister Hammat.
“It is vital people with lived or living experience of mental health challenges take part in discussions that have the potential to change and shape the wellbeing of this State for the better.
“Through sharing experiences, conversations and opportunities the WA Mental Health Conference 2026 will bring about meaningful change for people and communities.”
Earlier this year, the Government launched the Western Australian Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Strategy 2026-2031.
The Strategy represents a commitment to Western Australian communities, people with lived and living experience, their families, carers and significant others, and the mental health sector.
The commitment is supported by the Government’s record investment of $1.77 billion in mental health and alcohol and other drugs services and programs across WA, said Minister Hammat.
The Conference is being hosted by the Western Australian Association for Mental Health with support from the WA Government.
