The way the Victorian Government uses its online platform Engage Victoria to consult the community will be considered as part of a parliamentary inquiry public hearing next week.
Representatives of the Department of Government Services who specialise in digital transformation will front the inquiry into community consultation practices from 12pm on Monday 15 September.
Engage Victoria’s effectiveness and any possible areas for improvement are likely to be discussed.
Broadly, the inquiry is looking at how state and local government, statutory authorities and essential service providers consult with communities and whether certain groups or regions are underrepresented by existing consultation practices.
The Committee has already gathered information from a range of peak bodies, academics, consulting organisations and individual community members during the public hearing phase of the inquiry.
It’s also received 131 public submissions which are published on the Committee’s website.
You can watch the live broadcast of the Legislative Council Environment and Planning Committee on 15 September.
