Victoria’s geoscience capability was on full display last week, with Resources Victoria taking to the Australian Earth Sciences Convention in Melbourne to share its expertise with a national and global audience.
The conference brought together geoscience professionals from industry, academia and government. The 2026 theme ‘Geosciences: Solutions for the future’ set a clear focus: how science can support the next phase of responsible resource development.
Over four days, Geological Survey of Victoria geoscientists (pictured) Steve Boger, Cameron Cairns, Gus Campbell, Ross Cayley and Archie Martin shared their research, including work undertaken with collaborators.
Presentations explored Victoria’s gold and antimony potential, environmental baseline studies across the state, and new geological insights that have direct implications for mineralisation.
