Two charged over alleged kidnapping

Queensland Police have charged two men following the alleged kidnapping and assault of a 34-year-old Morningside woman in Brisbane’s south overnight.

It will be alleged by Police that at around 7pm on Monday, the two men attended a Morningside residence and took the woman against her will.

“They allegedly took her to a Bulimba address before taking her to a Birkdale address, where one of the men assaulted the woman with a cricket bat and demanded cash,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

The woman sustained minor injuries and was taken to Redland Hospital.

“It will be alleged the woman and two men are known to each other,” Police said.

A 35-year-old Birkdale man was charged with one count each of kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, possess dangerous drugs, assault occasioning bodily harm and assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed. He is due before Cleveland Magistrates Court today.

A 30-year-old Birkdale man was charged with kidnapping and is due before Cleveland Magistrates Court today.
