The WA Government is seeking an organisation to deliver an innovative new youth accommodation service to house some of the state’s most vulnerable young people.
Now open for tender, the Building Resilience, Independence, Guidance and Housing Transition (BRIGHT) service model will provide emergency accommodation and structured case management support for young people aged 14 to 17 years old with a primary focus on those preparing to leave State care.
The service will be able to accommodate up to six young people each night and support up to 12 young people at a time to access services, work towards gaining stable and safe accommodation and transition out of care smoothly.
“This new service model represents the Cook Labor Government’s modern, proactive approach to ensuring our State’s vulnerable youth, including those leaving care, are safe and supported. It is part of our wider work to ensure every Western Australian has a home,” said WA Child Protection Minister, Jessica Stojkovski.
“Keeping our children and young people supported and protected is part of the Cook Labor Government’s priority to build safe and inclusive communities.”
The BRIGHT model has been informed by engagement with the community services sector and reflects the State Government’s strong commitment to delivering responsive, person-centred supports that address both immediate needs and longer-term wellbeing.
“The best outcomes are achieved when supports are tailored to the unique needs of the young people receiving them,” said Homelessness Minister, Matthew Swinbourn.
“The BRIGHT model will not only provide emergency accommodation for young people in need but will also support them to develop living skills and connect to relevant supports.”
The successful provider will deliver the BRIGHT model from April 2027.
