Teen arrested over assault on SA Police officer

A teenager has been arrested in Adelaide after he allegedly assaulted a police officer in the city’s CBD.

In a statement, South Australia Police said that at round 1am on Sunday, officers were patrolling on Hindley Street when they were called to assist security staff with a patron at a nearby nightclub.

“Police spoke with an 18‑year‑old man from Seaford who was allegedly causing a disturbance and subsequently escorted him from the Adelaide CBD Declared Public Precinct,” SA Police said.

“It will be alleged that during this time, the man turned and spat in the face of a police officer.”

The man was arrested and charged with assaulting a prescribed emergency worker. He will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 1 June.
