A NSW student police officer has been charged after a prohibited weapon was seized from a home in Sydney’s south-west.
In a statement, NSW Police said a number of registered firearms were seized along with ammunition and a firearm part by officers attached to Campbelltown Police Area Command who attended a home in Eagle Vale about 3.15pm on Friday 19 September.
“The firearm part underwent ballistic examination and was deemed a prohibited weapon,” NSW Police said.
“Last Saturday, a 36-year-old man was issued a court attendance notice for possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.”
He is due to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday 25 November.
The man was suspended from the academy on 22 September and his professional suitability is under review, NSW Police said.
