QUEENSLAND POLICE

A 56-year-old male senior constable from the Queensland Police South Eastern Region has been served with a notice to appear in relation to alleged excessive force.

The member has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, allegedly committed while on duty.

The member has been stood down from the Queensland Police Service and is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 4 June, Queensland Police said in a statement.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the Service faces serious allegations of misconduct.”

“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated,” QPS stated.
