Applications have opened for the Victorian Government’s $10 million Building Blocks Improvement Grants to help give more of the state’s children the best start in life in modern, upgraded and well-equipped kinders.
Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn said the grants will help early childhood education providers upgrade and improve facilities such as playgrounds, learning spaces and technology.
Grants of up to $750,000 are available to renovate or refurbish kindergartens. Providers can also apply for up to $2,000 in IT grants to support the purchase of desktops, laptops, tablets and televisions used in the delivery of educational programs or service administration.
“We’re continuing to build on our nation-leading Best Start, Best Life reforms by investing in early childhood buildings and facilities – so more children can benefit from learning through play,” said Minister Blandthorn.
“Applications for the latest round of Building Blocks Improvement Grants are now open, and I encourage providers looking to modernise their facilities to apply.”
“Every dollar we invest in children’s education is a dollar that helps Victorian families – because access to quality kindergarten backed by Free Kinder means up to $2,600 back in the pockets of parents, each year.”
IT applications close on Monday, 29 September, and grants for facility upgrades and minor works close on Monday, 27 October.
