The Victorian Government has appointed a permanent board to lead the revived State Electricity Commission (SEC).
It’s envisaged renewed Commission will accelerate Victoria’s renewable energy transition, deliver 4.5 gigawatts of new renewable electricity generation and storage and help cut household power bills.
Minister for the State Electricity Commission, Lily D’Ambrosio, today announced Simon Corbell (pictured) as chair of the SEC Board, along with four board directors that have experience in finance, asset management, energy and investment.
“Simon Corbell and the new board directors have exceptional credentials in their fields and will lead the revived SEC as it accelerates our energy transition and drives down energy bills for Victorians,” said Minister D’Ambrosio.
She said Mr Corbell brings considerable experience in renewable energy investment, policy and regulation to the Board. His public and private sector roles in the energy transition – most recently at the Clean Energy Investor Group – will be key to guiding the SEC in its work.
“I look forward to guiding the new SEC and working with the government, community and private investors to accelerate the energy transition and help Victoria achieve its nation leading climate and energy targets,” said Mr Corbell.
The four board members also announced by the Minister are Joycelyn Morton, Anna Skarbek, Jo Benvenuti and Damien Barnes.
- Joycelyn Morton is an experienced board member of ASX-listed companies and government-owned corporations, including Epic Energy, Gelion and previously Snowy Hydro, where she also chaired the Risk and Audit Committee. - Anna Skarbek is the CEO of Climateworks Centre and a founding director of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation. She has considerable private and public sector knowledge, and is an experienced director, investment banker, policy advisor and lawyer. She recently served on the SEC Expert Advisory Panel.
