Queensland Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, Ros Bates, will lead a trade delegation mission to China this week.
The Queensland Government says it is on a mission to rebuild relationships with key partners and strengthen Queensland’s presence in China.
The delegation will take part in strategic meetings and events in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Shenzhen, with Minister Bates also set to open a new Trade and Investment Queensland office in Shenzhen.
“China is Queensland’s largest trading partner, accounting for more than $43 billion in trade last year alone,” Ms Bates said.
“We are leading from the front with our trade partners, assuring stakeholders that Queensland is delivering on our commitment to stability, certainty, and growth.
“Our trading partners were let down by the previous Labor government. We are here to rebuild those relationships and deliver a Fresh Start for Queensland.”
The Minister will also attend Hong Kong’s HOFEX 2025, one of Asia’s largest food, beverage, and hospitality trade shows, featuring over 1,200 international exhibitors and attracting more than 30,000 buyers.
The trade mission follows the recent release of the Queensland–China Trade and Investment Strategy 2025, which outlines the Government’s strategic approach to boosting commercial outcomes for Queensland businesses and education providers.
