Queensland Police Deputy Commissioner Cameron Harsley APM has today announced his plans to retire next month.
His final day with the organisation will be Friday, 12 September, marking the close of a remarkable career spanning more than 35 years.
In a statement, Queensland Police said that throughout his distinguished service to the Queensland community, Deputy Commissioner Harsley had held a number of key leadership roles.
“These include positions within the Child Protection Investigation Unit, the Crime and Corruption Police Group at the Crime and Corruption Commission, and as Director of the Child Safety and Sexual Crime Group within the Crime and Intelligence Command. He also served as District Officer for the North Brisbane District,” QPS said.
Before stepping into his current role as Deputy Commissioner of Regional Services two years ago, he served as Assistant Commissioner for the Brisbane Region.
“The privilege of my career was working with child victims and their families through the most traumatic times, and witnessing the courage displayed by the victims and their families,” said Deputy Commissioner Harsley.
Looking ahead, Deputy Commissioner Harsley said he was eager to explore new opportunities and spend more time with his family.
