Queensland constable charged with assault

A 38-year-old Constable from the Queensland Police South Eastern Region has been charged in relation to an alleged assault occasioning bodily harm.

Police say the incident occurred at Clear Island Waters on July 26, while the male officer was off duty. The matter was reported to the Queensland Police Service.

“A 31-year-old Gold Coast man sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident. The two are not known to each other,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“The member has been stood down with pay from the QPS and is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on October 9, 2024.”
