The Health Care Complaints Commission has prosecuted a complaint against registered nurse, Meaghan Lisa Stockley, before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
It was alleged that on 15 September 2022, while working at John Moroney Correctional Centre, Ms Stockley was charged with:
- Unlawfully bring or attempt to bring anything into a place of detention;
- Deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000;
- Supply prohibited drug greater than a small quantity and less than or equal to an indictable quantity.
It was also alleged that she failed to notify the National Board within seven days of having been charged with these offences, and that she was later convicted on 29 March 2023.
In its decision, the Tribunal found the complaint proven. The Tribunal found Ms Stockley guilty of unsatisfactory professional conduct and that she had been convicted of criminal offences that rendered her unfit in the public interest to practice nursing.
The Tribunal cancelled Ms Stockley’s registration with a non-review period of 18 months.
