Knox Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following the theft of an Order of Australia medal and distinctive 1941 Tobruk Rats military medal – one of just 20 ever made.
In a statement, Victoria Police said an unknown offender gained access to a residence on Buchan Court in Wantirna South between 3pm on Wednesday, 5 November and 7pm on Thursday, 6 November.
No one was home at the time of the burglary.
A number of personal items were stolen, including the medals.
Investigators have released sourced images of the medals in the hopes that someone can provide information on their whereabouts.
