Police release CCTV of Anzac Memorial vandalism

Sydney City Police officers are appealing for information after the Anzac War Memorial in Hyde Park was vandalised last week.

In a statement, NSW Police said that just before midnight on Friday, officers were called to the War Memorial site in Hyde Park Sydney, following reports of malicious damage.

Police were told an unknown man walking with a group of people stopped and graffitied a pillar post before leaving the scene.

“Despite efforts to clean the graffiti, the memorial remains damaged,” NSW Police said.

As investigations continue, police have released CCTV footage and images of the man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Asian appearance, with short black hair and wearing glasses. When last seen, he was wearing a navy-blue T-shirt and jacket, beige cargo pants and carrying a backpack.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Sydney City Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
