Police quack lost ducklings case

For two Fortitude Valley police officers, they may have quacked the cutest case of their careers.

Queensland Police Constables Dalton Philippa and Mason Smith were conducting patrols on the inner northern busway in Spring Hill just after noon last Tuesday, when they saw a single duckling running across the road.

Upon further investigation, the officers heard the chirps of eight other ducklings in a nearby storm water drain, and a rescue mission was swiftly launched.

With assistance from a member of the public, police successfully rescued a total of nine ducklings and transported them to the RSPCA.

Investigations into the whereabouts of mother duck are ongoing.
