A remotely-piloted drone has helped NSW Police to effect the arrest of a man in the state’s west over a string of alleged theft offences.
On Thursday 5 March, officers attached to NSWP New England Police District commenced investigations after two homes were broken into in Moree the same day.
At around 11.40am yesterday, investigators attended a home in Moree, and with the assistance of a remotely-piloted drone, the 37-year-old man was arrested in a nearby property.
He was taken to Moree Police Station, where two outstanding warrants were executed.
Police will allege the same man is responsible for the theft of a vehicle – which was later found burnt out – from a caravan park in Moree in May 2023, an alleged break and enter at a Leumeah home in February 2024 and a bag snatch from a Campbelltown pub later the same day.
The Moree man has been charged with:
- larceny value less than equal to $2000 (two counts),
- enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner,
- break & enter house etc steal value <= $60,000,
- steal property in dwelling-house more than $ 2000 & less than equal to $ 5000,
- steal property in dwelling-house,
- steal from the person value less than equal to $2000, and
- dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Division Court 5 today.
