Construction on a new, much-needed high school for Macquarie Park will get underway next year, the NSW Government has confirmed.
New design renders (pictured) released by the Government show a new high school that will cater for 2,000 students and includes indoor and outdoor sports courts and play spaces; general and specialist classrooms; a multipurpose hall; a canteen and administration facilities.
Construction is scheduled to start in 2026, with the new school expected to be completed in 2028.
With increasing demands for public recreational facilities in the area, the Government says the new school’s indoor and outdoor sports courts, playground and hall will be able to be shared with the community outside school hours.
“I am pleased to announce that the Minns Labor Government will deliver a stand-alone, state-of-the-art public high school for 2,000 students in Macquarie Park,” said Acting Minister for Education and Early Learning, Courtney Houssos.
“We know families have been left frustrated and fatigued after a decade of flip-flopping by the Liberals and Nationals, who delivered nothing after announcing an experimental project that was never going to work.
“This community has waited far too long for a new, desperately needed high school but now, under the Minns Labor Government, we can now give families certainty – this school will be built, with construction to start next year.”
