Parry named new Tasmanian Heritage Council Chair

The Tasmanian Government has confirmed the appointment of former Senator, Stephen Parry, as the new Chair of the Tasmanian Heritage Council.

The Heritage Council is a cornerstone of heritage stewardship in Tasmania, providing expert oversight, assessing development proposals, and guiding the conservation of places listed on the Tasmanian Heritage Register.

Minister for Arts and Heritage, Madeleine Ogilvie, welcomed Mr Parry’s appointment.

“Mr Parry brings deep experience in public service and a strong appreciation for Tasmania’s heritage,” Minister Ogilvie said.

“Mr Parry’s background in governance, strategic oversight, and community engagement positions him strongly to lead the Council through its next chapter.

“I am confident he will continue to build on this important work and guide the Council with integrity and vision.”

The Tasmanian Heritage Council supports the preservation of the State’s rich and diverse history, ensuring that heritage places remain valued assets.
