NSW Ambulance paramedic, Emily-Mae Strickland and critical care paramedic, Marty Thomson, have been recognised at the recent Rotary Club of Padstow Awards.
Receiving the Service Officer of the Year Award, Emily-Mae was recognised for her exceptional service and dedication to the community, consistently going above and beyond her role – from delivering CPR education sessions and promoting the NSW Ambulance GoodSAM program, to supporting several local community events. She has also volunteered overseas in Ghana with GVI Australia, providing first aid and sexual health education, as well as hands-on healthcare support in local medical centres.
Meanwhile, Marty proudly accepted the Aeromedical Award to acknowledge not only for his endeavours as a critical care paramedic – but also as an aviation Safety Network Advisor, regularly contributing towards the broader Integrated Risk and Safety Management System that is foundational to NSW Ambulance Helicopter Operations.
“Through his leadership by example, Marty motivates and inspires his peers and colleagues to openly report all safety and quality related issues. He has also been a central figure, and spent countless hours, being trained as a drone pilot to trial the drones to access patients who are lost in remote and challenging environments,” NSW Ambulance said in a statement.
