P-plater caught at twice the speed limit in unregistered car

A P-plater caught allegedly driving an unregistered vehicle at more than double the signposted speed limit at Park Ridge South has copped a hefty fine from Queensland Police.

Highway Patrol Officers were conducting speed enforcement on the Mount Lindesay Highway around 4.30pm on Monday, when a motorist was recorded travelling at 162km/hr in an 80km/hr speed zone.

Further checks by the officer established the vehicle was also unregistered at the time.

The 19-year-old male driver was issued two traffic infringement notices for exceeding the speed limit and using an unregistered motor vehicle.

He was fined $2,453 and has lost his driver’s licence.

Logan police have released vision of the incident as a reminder to motorists that there is a zero-tolerance approach to Fatal Five offences, this Queensland Road Safety Week: https://r2.mypolice.qld.gov.au/uploads/2025/08/19/032106_speeding-unregistered-p-plater-v2.mp4.
