Off-duty officer charged with assaulting police at concert

An off-duty NSW Police officer has been charged with assault following an investigation into an alleged incident in the Southern Highlands earlier this year.

In a statement, NSW Police said that shortly after 8.30pm on Saturday 28 March, officers attached to The Hume Police District were attending a concert in Bowral when patrons complained about the behaviour of a man and a woman at the venue.

“When police were attempting to remove the man, they will allege a 26-year-old woman intervened, assaulting two officers, with one officer having her spectacles smashed,” Police said.

“The woman was taken to Bowral Hospital after claiming to be unwell; however, left a short time later.”

Following inquiries, the woman – who is a constable attached to a Southern Region command – was issued with a Court Attendance Notice for two counts of hinder/resist police in execution of duty and two counts of assault police.

She is due to appear in Moss Vale Local Court on Tuesday 4 August. Her employment status is under review.
