NT commits to National Aboriginal Art Gallery build

New Northern Territory Chief Minister, Lia Finocchiaro, has confirmed the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Gallery of Australia (ATSIAGA) will be built.

In Alice Springs today Chief Minister Finocchiaro, joined with the Members for Namatjira and Braitling, Bill Yan and Joshua Burgoyne, to recommit to the CLP project which she says had been stalled for eight years by the Labor Government.

“The CLP has always been committed to this iconic project and we want to do this right,” Mrs Finocchiaro said.

“There is a pause in the current ATSIAGA program of work to work through next steps.

“And we will make sure people in Alice Springs and associated communities understand next steps and come on the journey with us in developing the best facilities for the Red Centre.”

“We will do this right and engage with the community around how we can save ANZAC Oval and deliver an iconic project of social and economic importance to Alice Springs,” Minister Burgoyne said.

“Unlike Labor, we have listened to the community and taken decisive action to put the demolition of Anzac Oval on hold,” said Minister Yan.
