NSW Police Sergeant charged over alleged bar stool assault

An off-duty NSW Police officer has been charged with allegedly assaulting a staff member at a north west Sydney hotel last year.

In a statement, NSW Police said that on Sunday 22 September last year, police received a report of an alleged assault at a licensed premises at Kellyville Ridge.

“The hotel manager, a 33-year-old man, was allegedly struck by a patron with a bar stool following a verbal disagreement. He suffered swelling and bruising to his face,” NSW Police said.

“Following extensive investigations, a 46-year-old man – a sergeant attached to a command in the North West Metropolitan Region – was issued a court attendance notice today for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.”

He is due to appear before Parramatta Local Court on 11 September.

The officer is not currently in the workplace, NSW Police said.
