NSW Police pursuit ends in collision at Bonnyrigg

A fully-marked NSW Police vehicle has been involved in a crash in Sydney’s south west overnight.

In a statement, NSW Police confirmed that at around 12.15am today, officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command were engaged in a pursuit of a black Mazda on Elizabeth Drive at Bonnyrigg when their vehicle was involved in a crash with a white Mercedes Benz sedan at the intersection of Cabramatta Road West.

“The sedan was not otherwise involved in the pursuit,” Police said.

The 35-year-old man behind the wheel of the Mercedes Benz was trapped in the vehicle for about 45 minutes following the crash. He taken to Liverpool Hospital with neck and back pain for assessment.

“Both officers were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital with minor injuries. The police driver will also undergo mandatory testing.”

Police have commended an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
